Nutley Family Services Bureau
NFSB Services
Services are available to all, regardless of race, religious affiliation, gender, age or sexual orientation. Services are available on an affordable sliding fee* scale based on income and no one is turned away due to inability to pay. We accept most insurance plans, including Medicare. To find out if our services are right for you or to schedule a confidential appointment call us at: (973) 667-1884.

Nutley Family Service Bureau’s (NFSB’s) services range from individual, couple, family and group counseling, to employee assistance programs and community outreach programs. This includes children (starting at age 3), adolescents, adults and older adults. The Nutley Family Service Bureau also acts as an information and referral resource.

*Fees do not cover the total cost of our counseling services; therefore, additional funding is needed from the community, private donations, fundraisers and other resources.

NFSB Programs
Our core program is to provide quality confidential counseling services to promote the physical, emotional and social well being of all clients.
  • FAMILY AND INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
We provide individual, family, couple and group counseling.
Challenges such as: stress, anxiety, depression, grief, marital problems, divorce, attention deficit, bi-polar and other related disorders, communication problems, anger management, self-esteem issues, family relationships, parenting, single parenting, conflict resolution, school and work issues, problem solving, physical and sexual abuse, and aging and its impact.
  • Play Therapy – Children’s Services – Play Therapy is a helping interaction between a trained therapist and a child that seeks to relieve the child’s emotional distress through play.  Play Therapy provides opportunity for trained therapists to understand children’s play and incorporate methods for assisting the child in addressing treatment concerns.  While play is common in the lives of children, play therapy can be helpful to people of all ages with a variety of presenting concerns.  At Nutley Family Service Bureau we see children from age three, and sometimes younger, through adolescents, and sometimes older, for Play Therapy.  We have a wide variety of Play Therapy items to help foster the healing process.
NFSB In The Community…
  • SENIOR CONNECTIONS - The goal at Nutley Family Service Bureau is:
  • To help seniors to continue to grow, learn, remain independent and enhance their quality of life.
  • To empower older adults to make decisions about services and programs to foster healthy aging (aging in place).
  • To enhance physical, emotional and mental well-being by providing wellness, recreational, social, physical and mental health services.
  • To provide information and referral to other community services and long term care planning.
The Senior Connection program is provided off site at the following locations:
  1. NUTLEY PARKSIDE APARTMENTS
  2. NUTLEY MANOR
  3. HOME VISITS
  • School Groups – and Play Therapy To Go – To provide therapy to children in the school environment who are in need of services, yet are unable to make it to the agency to receive the services.  This program is geared towards children from kindergarten through 12th grade.  These students are referred to this program from the school social worker.  The goals in this program include: improved work habits, listening skills, anger management, improved social interaction, improved self esteem, and relaxation techniques for stress.
  • Community Outreach For Food (COFF) - The long-term goal of the COFF Program is to provide sustenance to individuals and families who, for many reasons, do not have enough to eat.  The Bureau, as the access point for all families and individuals, collaborates with three different churches and the Red Cross in town to feed families referred by the community.  Through an evaluation of each individual by the Bureau staff, the agency is able to attempt to address the causes for the need and develop goals for the individual or family to achieve greater self-sufficiency.  All food is available at the various food pantries in town and NFSB, in collaboration with other organizations, attempt to keep the pantries well stocked through various food drives in town.
